Justin Walters has spent his entire working life in the wine and spirit industry. This year marks the 10th anniversary for Cuttings Wine Merchants NSW.
With qualifications in Wine Marketing from the University of Adelaide, as well as from the German Wine Academy and the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (London) for the ‘Teaching a systematic approach to Tasting’ course, Justin has worked across almost every aspect of the Australian wine and hospitality industries in his career so far; from winemaking, grape picking, marketing and wholesaling to the ‘coal face’ on the floor in restaurants and fine wine stores.
In 2001, he was awarded the national employee Winner of the Negociants Australia ‘Working with Wine’ Scholarship, which enabled him to visit and study with 19 of the world’s leading wine producers in Europe; across Italy, France and Germany.
In 2010, Justin established a joint venture between himself, colleague Daniel Radford and long-established NSW distribution firm Young & Rashleigh. The goal for Cuttings NSW is to represent a distinctive and unique family of artisanal winemakers of quality and provenance, from across Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Austria along with North and South America. Together, the partners and team members see an emerging segment of the local market that is hungry for new wines and experience different taste sensations alongside the ‘usual suspects’ in the wine world; we hope that you discover this through the Cuttings portfolio as it continues to evolve and develop.

Daniel Radford’s family owned Cubbaroo Wines located in the New South Wales town of Burren Junction, it’s safe to say wine started in the blood at an early age. Daniel’s first interest in wine started when he arrived to Sydney to work at the iconic Crow’s Nest Hotel in 1994. After working his way up to manager, that’s when Daniel started seriously looking and appreciating wine. Completing WSET and getting his hands dirty doing a few vintages at Brokenwood is where his passion grew. After a few years working as Manager at Crows Nest Hotel, along with helping manage Kirribilli Hotel and the old Bridgeview Hotel. Daniel was poached by Cremorne Hotel to establish and consult for the fine wine store and take on the role of Licensee. During this time Daniel managed to work closely with premium Australian wineries from iconic regions such as; Margaret River, Hunter Valley, Barossa Valley, Yarra Valley and Orange.
In 2010, Daniel established Cuttings Wine Merchants NSW, a joint venture boutique wine distributor between himself, colleague Justin Walters and long-established NSW distribution firm Young & Rashleigh. 10 years later and Dan is just a passionate about wine and educating people as he was from the very beginning. Daniels’s philosophy remains that there is more to wine than just the big brand companies, there is always a story to tell no matter how big or small!
Daniels’s obsessions are, Victorian Chardonnay, Barossan Grenache, and cracking Pinot Noir from New Zealand.
