Oscar’s Folly

Oscar's Folly is no virtual wine label from parts unknown. It comes from a very real vineyard and winery in the renowned Yarra Valley and has come to life after successful negotiations by Oscar to acquire fruit and winery space from his father's existing operation. The wines reflect his father’s advice on attention to quality but with a youthful edge. Clearly Oscar is following in his father’s footsteps.

Scott McCarthy

Scott was born with winemaking and viticulture in his veins, growing up on a family vineyard in Mildura. Following his winery start with Yalumba wines in the Barossa, Scott went on to gain global winemaking experience in firstly the Napa Valley (USA), Loire Valley and then in New Zealand’s Marlborough region. Settling in the Yara Valley 18 years ago, Scott is jointly the winemaker for Helen’s Hill Estate while he has also created MCarthy Winemaking Services, making Oscar’s Folly as well as being consultant winemaker to Soumah, Gioiello Estate and Mandala wines. Scott is a very humble winemaker who regularly states that the quality and polish of his wines is really due to the quality of the fruit at his disposal.
